I have gotten a bit behind on my prompts, but here goes for Day 11’s prompt which is:
What tiny rituals: signal that your day is starting; help you ease into a creative project; give you closure from an intensive task; or mark other significant milestones in your day? What new rituals would you like to create in the new year?
–
This year the ritual that helped me ease into a project and into my day was sweeping the floor. It is something about piling together all the crumbs and dust left over from the day, sweeping them into the dustpan, and preparing for a new day of activity that will leave another mess on the floor whether physically or metaphorically.
For 2015, I want to create a gratitude ritual each morning or night where I acknowledge my 6 senses (sight, hearing, sound, taste, smell, and feeling) and choose to notice and be grateful for things that came into my awareness via my senses. A way to for me to keep diving into the everyday sacred of life from the smell of bread baking to the sound of grasshoppers chirping. I would also like to create a ritual around really caring for myself with touch like massaging my hands or trying a new perfume.
Regardless of the ritual, gentle does it.
