Staying Present for the Ride: Reverb13, Day 10

Reverb13, Day 10 Prompt:

Living life on auto-pilot can feel disorienting and dull. How did you cultivate a life worth loving during 2013?

How can you turn off your auto-pilot button in 2014?

This year, I began to disconnect from autopilot by setting up healthy boundaries for myself with certain people in my life. Auto pilot was definitely the default when I was feeling exhausted, drained, and tired but this year I shook it up a bit. My house was a bit more disorganized, I took more naps and slept in, and I went out and did more of what I wanted to do like attend concerts, storytelling events, and having brunch with my good friends.

Next year I will turn off the auto pilot button by diving deeper into doing more of what I want and continuing to celebrate life. Life is here for us now and its full of color and nuance, which is hard to see in auto pilot mode. I plan to be more present to what life is offering me on a daily basis and notice the beauty of it all.

Next year I am going to continue to shake things up and stay present for the ride.

What a great phrase! Good for you for setting boundaries. It’s sometimes really hard to do especially with people who mean a lot to you. Sounds like you’re on the right track!

    1. Mehnaz,

Thank you for your comment. Yes it is hard work! Staying the course and knowing that it is all for the best 🙂
