Personal Development

Everyday

I am a writer. Most people who know me, know this to be true. Yet, I find myself in these spaces where I don’t write. Where I go long stretches of time not working on my novel, not blogging, not journalling. Cause life gets busy and their is hubby and baby to tend to each day, right? Yes, but there is more to it.

Sometimes I get so stuck in my head that I am frozen. I find myself doing more analyzing and less writing. I went to the American Writer’s Museum recently and was reminded of why I write. Because it feels like the thing I am supposed to be doing here on this planet. And then I am reading a newsletter and  it contains this profound quote by Octavia Butler:

“Write. Write every day. Write whether you feel like writing or not… Don’t give up. Learn from everything.” – Octavia Butler

So today I decided to write. And worry less about everything and simply write. Is this my best blog post? No, but that isn’t the point. The point is to make it happen even when my . brain insists on trying to make it not happen.

What about you? If you have something that you know you desire to do, then do it. Plain and simple. Less thinking and more doing. Give your heart what it wants. Give your soul what it craves. Shake off perfect and dance with mystery, creativity, and life.
