Vulnerability & Writing: Hunger

Vulnerability is living in the questions. Allowing the mystery to be there. Letting yourself wade around in the unknown. Ultimately its a huge leap of trust. Trusting who you are, what you are, and what life is offering every single minute.

I’m a thinker. I can seriously think about something, for better or for worrisome worse. What I have come to notice though is that the moments of enlightenment come when I write or type. I get to unpack my thoughts on my own and dive deeper into certain things that are coming up.

I know that there are others out there like me, and that may be so I am excited to offer something new on my blog starting today.

Every Wednesday, I am going to post up a question or thought that I hope you will dig into on your own experience and desires.  I encourage you to get a paper journal or even online space (like 750words.com) and simply write. This isn’t about editing yourself. Its about complete transparency with yourself.  Exploration. It may be words. It may be images you see. Whatever it is, get it on the page and don’t try to explain it away.

I believe and know that those unedited truths are what bring the most delicious wisdom and biggest aha’s ever. This is about trusting yourself. Trusting what you know.  Trusting what you want.

Are you in? If so keep on reading…

Vulnerability & Writing Prompt:

What are you hungry for?

This question came up for me this morning.  When I go too long without meals,it doesn’t feel good (I get “hangry”–my husband can attest to this!) How does it feel when we go too long without fulfilling our desires or filling up our spiritual and creative tanks? It is felt just like hunger pains in our stomach except its in our heart and souls: feeling complacent, angry, resentful; worn out; and the list goes on.

In order to fulfill my hunger, I have to know what I am hungry for. Right now, I am hungry for adventure of all kinds. I want to explore unfamiliar and familiar experiences with new eyes, with a new energy and electricity.  I hunger for creative immersion. Not just getting my feet wet, but exploring the depths and caverns of my writing, music, and other pursuits that I haven’t even yet considered.

Now it’s your turn:  What are you hungry for?
